A New Journey Begins!

Tomorrow is the first day preaching as the Senior Pastor of New Life. I have prepared a message on the Great Commission. The point of it is essentially that for us to grow as a church we need to do what Jesus said to do 'Go therfore and make disciples' Matt 28:18.

Following the Great Commission will lead to church growth. To some it is a foreign concept that being outward focused leads to an increase in the church, but it is a message I would like to teach New Life. Help them to understand that no matter what we do as people we cannot grow the church. Only Jesus can grow New Life, and all we can do is follow what He wants us to do.

I am really looking forward to seeing what God is going to do in the coming weeks, months, and years. It is going to be exciting to see him work in my life and the lives of everyone at New Life.

A New Journey is begining and I am glad that Jesus is letting me go along for the ride!

Sticky Statement: Seek God with all that you have and He will restore you!! Misc: Before I get started this morning, I have a service announcement. Some of us have been using the NIV translation for up to 25 years now. Well Zonderzan, the publisher, is updating the NIV Bible. They are coming out with a 2011 version. I tend to be a fan of reading different Bible versions, but I want to caution everyone. The 1984 version of the NIV is a good Bible, a few years back they came out with the TNIV version which was gender neutral in a lot of places that was not right. My Medical Journey

Hey All, This week is a week of waiting. Last week we found out that I have Acostic Neuroma (AN). This is a tumor growing between the nerves that control hearing, facial function, and balance. For me this is on the left side of the head and has significantly impacted my hearing in my left ear. I do have some very mild symptoms in addition to the hearing loss, but nothing that would have caused me to see the Dr. on their own. For most people this is found when the tumor is 2-4MM, mine is 23 MMs in size. Not uncommon, just that more than 50% of people diagnosed with AN have smaller tumors. For the past week Alexis and I have been doing a LOT of research. Some of it is scary, but some of it is reasuring. Mostly we know that God is in control no matter what. Their are 5 treatment options available for AN. 3 are micro-surgery of the brain and 2 are different radiation programs. Each option has its own set of risks and benefits.
