Balancing Ministry N' Work

  1.      Our calendar is getting closer to Christmas. a.       As we walk through John we are heading to Good Friday and Easter. 2.      Last week we saw Jesus following through with the Master Plan. a.       He headed to the garden. b.      He showed He had the power by knocking those coming to get Him down. c.       But He allowed Himself to be arrested. d.      He let them take Him away, knowing that it was needed. e.       The disciples fled, but two wanted to see what was going on. f.       Peter did exactly what Jesus prophesied that he would do. g.      He denied Jesus three times and immediately the rooster crowed. 3.      These events happened because of the Love Jesus has for us. a.       His hour was coming, the price for our sin was about to be paid. b.      Jesus came to complete the work, to wipe us clean and give us new life. c.       These painful events were needed. 4.      John 18:28-29 a.       They wrongly tried Jesus and treated Him l

  1.      Jesus prayed. a.       Nothing surprising there. b.      We see throughout the NT that He models for us that we are to pray. c.       He prayed that the Father would use Him. d.      That the guys with Him would be able to stand through the trial they were facing.   e.       What is amazing is that He prayed for all who would believe through the words shared and written by the Disciples. f.       He prayed for us. 2.      He prayed that those who follow His Word are united. a.       He prayed that the world would see that the Father sent the Son, through how we live our faith. b.      That we would learn to love as God loves. c.       That we would see Him in His Glory, that we would see Jesus is His glorified body! d.      Spend forever in His awesome presence. e.       He prayed that we would point people to the Father through Jesus. 3.      That is what it all boils down to. a.       That we love God so much that we live our faith in a way that
