Sermon - John 2:1-11 - Do whatever He tells you - Littleby Baptist Church - March 24, 2019

Last week as part of Life and Ministry of Jesus we looked at two simple words, ‘Follow Me.’ Words uttered by our Lord when He called those who would follow Him. Thankfully our Lord will use anyone! Our past does not limit us, what we have done does not keep us away, the true measure of our worthiness is how we respond when Jesus says, ‘Follow Me’. I pray that when God guides you that you will follow Him. As we continue our series this morning, let’s look at what Jesus did when His mother asked Him for some help. John 2:1-4 “ 2  On the third day a wedding took place in Cana of Galilee. Jesus’s mother was there, and 2  Jesus and his disciples were invited to the wedding as well. 3  When the wine ran out, Jesus’s mother told him, “They don’t have any wine.” 4  “What does that have to do with you and me, woman?” Jesus asked. “My hour has not yet come.” Before we get into this, I do want to point out that while I would not want to see how Alexis would respond if one of the kids r

Sermon - Mark 1-2 - Jesus Said, 'Follow Me' - Littleby Baptist Church - March 17, 2019

Last week, after several interruptions, we wrapped up the temptation section of our Life and Ministry of Jesus series. Great reminders about spending time with our Bibles to learn and grow in our faith and in our ability to resist the devil’s attempt at tempting us. As part of growing in our knowledge of God’s Word lets look at what God has given us for today. Mark 1:16-20 “ 16  As he passed alongside the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and Andrew, Simon’s brother, casting a net into the sea—for they were fishermen. 17  “Follow me,” Jesus told them, “and I will make you fish for people.” 18  Immediately they left their nets and followed him. 19  Going on a little farther, he saw James the son of Zebedee and his brother John in a boat putting their nets in order. 20  Immediately he called them, and they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired men and followed him.” Simon and Andrew were fishing, and Jesus said, ‘Follow me’ and they did. James and John likewise followe

Sermon - Matthew 4:8-11 - The Third Temptation - Littleby Baptist Church - March 10, 2019

The devil tempted Jesus to take matters into His own hands by getting Jesus to turn some stones into to bread. Jesus saw through it and showed us that we need to know God’s Word so that we can resist the devil and He showed us we need to trust in God. That was strike one for the devil. The devil then tried to tempt Jesus by pulling out a single piece Scripture. He insinuated that Jesus could do anything, even something that was flat out foolish, and the Father would protect Him. The devil quoted Scripture, twisted it, manipulated it, to try to make it mean something different than what God intended. There are fake religions built off of a twisted and manipulated piece of Scripture. There are some that cutout whole sections. Jesus responded to the devil by also quoting Scripture, emphasizing the need for us to understand God’s overall message for us. Understanding God’s message found in our Bible helps us to see through the twisting and manipulation of Scripture. Jesus resisted the d
