Sermon Notes - Why we are to pray - Littleby Baptist Church - December 26, 2021

    I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas! 2.      Before we jump back into Revelation, I want to pause and talk about something that is very important to our lives. 3.      1 Thessalonians 5:17 tells us that we are to ‘pray constantly.’ a.       As people of God. b.      As followers of Christ. c.       Prayer needs to be part of who we are. Not just something we do, but part of who we are. 4.      1 Peter 2:21 a.       As children of God, we are to follow in the footsteps of our Savior. b.      If we scan through the Gospels, we are going to find examples of Jesus praying. c.       Mark 1:35 – Jesus got up early and spent some alone time praying. d.      Luke 5:15-16 – Jesus ministered to the large crowds but would withdraw away from the large crowds and pray. e.       Matthew 26:36-46 – Jesus cries out to God in prayer while in the garden of Gethsemane.   f.       Those are just a couple of examples and there are many more in the Bible of our Lord praying and

Scripture Reading: Isaiah 7:14; 9:6-7 100’s of years before the birth of the King of kings, Isaiah prophesied about the coming of little baby Jesus and how He was going to accomplish more than anyone could ever imagine. The King of kings, the Lord of lords, the Prince of Peace, Our Messiah, the Savior of all humankind was going to be born as a simple child. Hymn #76 – O Come, O Come Emmanuel Hymn #86 – O Little Town of Bethlehem Scripture Reading: Luke 2:1-7 Christ the child was born in the humblest of places. The creator of all things could have easily chosen to be born in the lap of luxury. Instead, to emphasize that He came to earth for everyone, He born as the child of a poor man and his wife. The size of your bank account, the color of your skin, who you ancestors are, or really anything else does not matter. Jesus came to earth for you. Sermon Notes - Pointing to Jesus - Littleby Baptist Church - December 12, 2021

1.      We have spent a good part of 2021 looking at prophecy in the Book of Revelation that points to our Lord’s second coming. 2.      This morning thought we could look at some prophecy that pointed to when He came as that little child in Bethlehem. 3.      Starts all the way back at the Garden of Eden a.       The Devil in the form of a serpent tempts Eve to eat the fruit. b.      Adam and Eve eat the fruit. c.       God asks why, Eve states that the serpent deceived her. d.      Genesis 3:15                                                     i.      The serpent, Satan, will cripple mankind as it strikes its heel. 1.      Satan will attack and cause men and women to turn from God. 2.      Eve’s offspring, Jesus will have the final say. a.       He will deliver the fatal blow and Satan will be no more. e.       An event recorded while Adam and Eve were still in the Garden, point to Jesus and His victory. 4.      Father Abram or Abraham a.       Genesis 12:
