Sermon June 30, 2013 Call 2 Fall a sermon on the importance of prayer!

This morning June 30 th , 2013 we are joining many other churches around the country to discuss the importance of prayer. As I watch the news and look around our nation I am concerned. Society today continues to deteriorate. People no longer follow Biblical values; they live their lives focused on the moment and on material things. They only think about themselves. Our nation has lost its way. No longer can we comfortably say that we are One Nation Under God, unless our nations god is something other than our Creator. Sadly our leadership bows to the whims of people and special interest groups. The Supreme Court of the United States made that clear this week and seeing how the President and other leaders responded are perfect examples that we need to be praying for them. As true believers in the One True God we only have one thing we can do. It is something that every single one of us can do. It is not pushing petitions, it is not standing on street corners calling out everyth...

Sermon - I am, I can, and I will part 2 from Clark Baptist Church June 23, 2013

Message title:   I am, I can, I will The Big Idea for message:   Let God carry out the plans He has made for you. ME (orientation):   Last week we started out looking at how the nation of Israel was wandering through the wilderness for 40 years. In Deuteronomy 2 God says: “2 The Lord then said to me, 3  ‘You’ve been traveling around this hill country long enough; turn north,” Basically God was telling them enough of this wandering, I have something better for you. Take that step in faith! Sadly each of us acts like the Nation of Israel from time to time. We allow ourselves to get in a rut and to continue doing the same things. Like the nation of Israel we never want to take that step in faith. For 40 years the nation of Israel was saying I’m not going to change, I can’t it is to hard, and I won’t do what is needed. We also respond to God that way. God does not want to hear I’m not, I can’t, or I won’t. What he wants from us ...

Sermon - I am, I can, and I will part 1 from Clark Baptist Church June 16, 2013

Message title:   I am, I can, I will   ME (orientation):  I can think back over the years in my life and see I did not always let God be in control. Those teenage years that I spent doing what I wanted regardless of what anyone said. Those early adult years going out and partying. Even the first few years of our married life was lived without God in control. I spent many years doing many things in life. Seemed like I was always doing something new but from a spiritual perspective I was running in circles. Sadly even the first few years after I accepted Jesus as my lord and savior it was more of the same, I was spinning in circles. I was a Christian but I still controlled everything. It was not until I really had a need in my life that I began the process of letting God control things. It was only then that Jesus started showing me the path He had laid before me, it was then that God showed me that there was a better way. His Way! WE (identification): Is this ...

May 26, 2013 - Acoustic Neuroma Post Op - 3 Years!

It is hard to believe that 3 years ago this evening I was waking up from spending 10.5 hours on the operating table. I still remember waking up and the surgeon asking me to smile and he liked the big smile I was able to give back. It was the sign we were all looking for to ensure their was no damage to the facial nerve. That is one of the many memories from that day and one of my favorite! I have come to this 3rd anniversary and am eternally grateful for all that God has done. Any symptoms I have are minimal and rarely cause problems. The headaches I used to have a year ago, only happen every once in a great while. Balance issues only rear their head when I am very tired or when I try to read and walk at the same time, needless to say I try not to do that very often. Besides these couple of things, the hearing loss, and the scar that is viewable after a hair cut you would not know I had a brain tumor removed. As I have said before God is great! Even today I am still thankful for ...

Should Religion be Taught in Public Schools - Written by my 14 year old son.

Following is a paper written by my 14 year old son, Chris. He thought about the topic, did the research, and came to his own conclusions. I am very proud of him, his thought process, and the decisions he is making. I told him that I was proud of him and wanted to share this on my blog and he said ok. God Bless, Robert Should World Religion Be Taught In Public Schools? There are nineteen major religions in the world, and these are some of the known religions: Christianity, Judaism, Buddhism, Islam, Mormon, Sikhism, Baha’ism, Confucianism, Jainism, and Shintoism. A religion is considered a major religion based on the number of followers. For an example, Sikhism has a following of twenty- three million people, and Shintoism has a following of 4 million. While Christianity, one of the most popular religions, has 2.1 billion followers. With this many religions and their conflicting views, religion should not be taught in public school. The reason why religion should not be taug...

Sermon - March 31, 2013 - Easter 2013 - John 20:1-18 - Sturgeon Christian Church

John 20:1-18 20 Now on the first day of the week Mary Magdalene *came early to the tomb, while it *was still dark, and *saw the stone already taken away from the tomb. 2 So she *ran and *came to Simon Peter and to the other disciple whom Jesus loved, and *said to them, “They have taken away the Lord out of the tomb, and we do not know where they have laid Him.” 3 So Peter and the other disciple went forth, and they were going to the tomb. 4 The two were running together; and the other disciple ran ahead faster than Peter and came to the tomb first; 5 and stooping and looking in, he *saw the linen wrappings lying there; but he did not go in. 6 And so Simon Peter also *came, following him, and entered the tomb; and he *saw the linen wrappings lying there, 7 and the face-cloth which had been on His head, not lying with the linen wrappings, but rolled up in a place by itself. 8 So the other disciple who had first come to the tomb then also entered, and he saw and believed. 9 For as yet th...

30 Months Post Op and the Two Most Important Things to Remember

Today, November 25, 2012, I celebrate 17 years of marraige to the best wife I could have ever asked for. She has been a wonderful blessing through sickness and health, and I look forward to spending the rest of eternity with her! This evening we watched our movie 'Pure Country' with George Strait and our song 'I Cross My Heart' with the kids. A line from that song says 'In all the world, you will never find a love as pure as mine!' It was true 17 years ago at our wedding and it is even more true today! I Love you Hunny! Tomorrow, the 26th, we hit the 30 month mark of my Acoustic Neuroma Surgery. It is hard to believe that it has only been 2 1/2 years. A lot has happened in such a short period of time. I had to step down as Pastor at New Life Chapel due to my surgery and recovery, made a job change and moved to Iowa. Started pastoring Ninth Street Baptist, but then left my day job and the church to move to Centralia, MO for a new company. 30 months post op, w...
