Thoughts on the murder of George Floyd and the Darkness in this world

My heart aches when I see all the darkness in this world.

George Floyd did not deserve to die at the hands of those cops.

Without knowing what was in the hearts of those involved, I cannot say if it was racism, a power trip, or something else… but I can say it was absolutely wrong.

Does racism exist, yes in many forms.

Does hatred exist, sadly yes.

Is murder wrong, absolutely it is. Taking the life of another person is one of the worst acts any person can commit.

Colossians 1:16 - “For everything was created by him, in heaven and on earth, the visible and the invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities – all things have been created through him and for him.”

Everything here includes every one of us. It includes every person that was ever created. From that unborn child to the loved one that is about to take that last step into eternity. It does not matter what color of skin we have, if we are male or female, or what profession we have.

All of us were created by our Lord Jesus.

Absolutely no one deserves to be brutally murdered and as a society we need to do something about it.

The answer cannot be to spread more hatred, fear, and darkness. All that does is breed more of the same.

Jesus said in Matthew 22 – “37 He said to him, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. 38 This is the greatest and most important command. 39 The second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself.”

If we are to love our Lord our God with all that we have, we need to love His Creation. We need to love each and embrace our differences.

If we are to love our neighbors as ourselves, then we need to work together for the common good.

As children of God we need to do everything we can to break through the hatred, racism, anger, and to spread the Love of Christ. It is only through His Love and the work of the Holy Spirit that true change can be made.

I implore each of you to go out of your way to Love Others. Go out of your way to help drive the change that is needed in the hearts of men and throughout our communities.
