It is December 26, 2009 and I am starting my first blog.

This Blog will be about how I balance the demands of being a Supply Chain Manager at a manufacturing plant and a man called to do God's work. I am not currently a Pastor, but I know God is guiding me in that direction.

Today after a long break I have applied for a Pastor position! In 2006 I was hurt by a Pastor I trusted and I stayed away from applying for a ministry position since. Don't get me wrong I have volunteered at every church I have been at. I have just kept myself from risking being hurt again. The last couple of years have been a time of healing, especially this year. This year we have spent our time at New Hope Missionary Church here in Jackson, MI. I have been active in the Sunday service and Alexis and I have started a Bible study in our home. It feels great to be teaching the Word again and celebrating with other believers. Spending this time teaching and fellowshipping has reminded me that this is what God has called me to do. While I may not hear anything about the position I applied for, that is ok. Just applying for the position was a huge step in remembering He is in control.

My prayer and desire is that in 2010 I find exactly where God wants me to be.

The struggles many faced with job issues, medical issues, family uncertainty, and more made it hard to hold on to Peace. Part of the problem I think is that we were trying to find our own peace. We may go sit in a dark and quiet room, take a long hot bath, listen to some music, spend time in the workshop, sew, or whatever we think will help us step away from the craziness that is getting to us. Doing these types of things to bring calm may help for a while, they may help us step away, but the reality is they do not help us to have the full Peace of the Lord

Message title: Jeremiah 29:11-14 God Has A Plan The Big Idea for message: Even when we do not understand why things are happening, during the good and the bad, God has a plan. Sticky Statement: Seek God with all that you have and He will restore you!! Misc: Before I get started this morning, I have a service announcement. Some of us have been using the NIV translation for up to 25 years now. Well Zonderzan, the publisher, is updating the NIV Bible. They are coming out with a 2011 version. I tend to be a fan of reading different Bible versions, but I want to caution everyone. The 1984 version of the NIV is a good Bible, a few years back they came out with the TNIV version which was gender neutral in a lot of places that was not right. In some places it referred to God in a gender neutral way, I do not agree with that. Now the new 2011 NIV is based more on the TNIV than the 1984 version of the NIV, so it has roughly 3600 gender ne

My Medical Journey

Hey All, This week is a week of waiting. Last week we found out that I have Acostic Neuroma (AN). This is a tumor growing between the nerves that control hearing, facial function, and balance. For me this is on the left side of the head and has significantly impacted my hearing in my left ear. I do have some very mild symptoms in addition to the hearing loss, but nothing that would have caused me to see the Dr. on their own. For most people this is found when the tumor is 2-4MM, mine is 23 MMs in size. Not uncommon, just that more than 50% of people diagnosed with AN have smaller tumors. For the past week Alexis and I have been doing a LOT of research. Some of it is scary, but some of it is reasuring. Mostly we know that God is in control no matter what. Their are 5 treatment options available for AN. 3 are micro-surgery of the brain and 2 are different radiation programs. Each option has its own set of risks and benefits.
