ii.     Think about it, His blood guarantees eternal life with Him for all who follow Him.

b.     Jesus words – ‘which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.’

                                                    i.     His sacrifice wipes away all the sin in our lives.

ii.     A sacrifice that makes us clean, redeemed, holy, set apart for God.

iii.     As if we are white as snow.

4.     If we were reading from Luke.

a.      It would tell us to take of the bread and drink of the fruit of the vine in remembrance of Jesus.

b.     If we are remembering Jesus when we partake.

c.      We should remember the sacrifice.

d.     We should reflect on who we were when we met Jesus and who we are today.

e.      We should be thankful for all of our sin He has forgiven.

f.      We should be thankful for the way our Lord has worked in us.

g.     Molding us into the new creations that we are.

h.     Not leaving us as we were.

i.       But making us new.

c.      ‘He is faithful and righteous to forgive’ them.

d.     Our Lord and Savior is faithful to forgive us of our sins.

e.      It does not matter how much we have sinned.

f.      It does not matter if we fall into the same sin again.

g.     He is faithful to forgive us of our sins.

h.     He wants us to repent and grow.

d.     We cannot earn it.

e.      We don’t owe Him anything.

f.      He became the sacrifice that was needed.

g.     He erased our sins.

h.     It is a free gift.

7.     It also means that Jesus frees us from the impurities in our lives.

a.      When you buy a brand-new white dress shirt, it looks sharp.

b.     The more you wear it, it tends to take on a little bit of color, a tinge, some greyness.

c.      Then you spill something on it and the stain really stands out.

d.     Jesus removes those stains; He removes that greyness…

e.      Actually, Jesus removes all of it, no blemish exists.

f.      The shirt covered in our sin and cleansed by Jesus, would look better than it did when it was still sealed in the package.

g.     Jesus wipes away all the impurities.

8.     Through Jesus we are redeemed, we are made Holy.

a.      If The Lord’s Supper represents the actions of Jesus that truly set us apart as God’s beloved children.

c.      He will never leave us or forsake us.

d.     As we draw near to Him, He will draw near to us.

e.      In response to all His promises… we are to cleanse ourselves of all impurities.

f.      Does not mean we will live perfect lives.

g.     What it does tell us is that in response God’s promises we are to separate ourselves from those who corrupt the Word of God.

h.     We are to separate ourselves from those who embrace a lifestyle that would draw us into the ways of the world.

i.       We are to bring holiness to completion.

j.       Sounds like something beyond our abilities.

k.     I cannot bring holiness to completion, only God can do that.

10.  King David, was known as a friend of God.

a.      But he was also an adulterer and a murderer.

b.     Theses were some of the words God wrote through him.

c.      Psalms 63

d.     A flawed man who can seek God to the best of his ability.

e.      Did he always get it right… no.

f.      The Bible shows us he did not.

g.     But it also shows us that God restored him when he repented.

h.     It is a great example for us.

i.       Follow God.

j.       Let Him use us.

k.     When we mess up, which we will.

l.       Turn to our God.

m.   Repent of our sins.

n.     And march forward.

11.  We are not perfect, but we can embrace the gift we have been given.

a.      We are to pursue holiness to the best of our ability out of reverence for our God.

b.     How do we do this?

c.      We purposefully study the Word of God.

d.     We seek our Jesus daily.

e.      We have heartfelt conversations with Jesus each day.

12.  Using the words from 2 Corinthians, we will bring holiness to completion.

a.      Never perfect but continuing to be molded into the person God wants us to be.

b.     As we approach partaking the Lord’s Supper, we are to cleanse ourselves and seek to grow as followers of Jesus.

c.      We are to approach this ‘thing’ that we do in remembrance of Jesus with a deep respect.

13.  James 4:7-8

a.      As we approach our Lord, we should be submitting and drawing near to Him.

b.     Praying to Him.

c.      Remembering that He is the Creator of all things.

d.     That He is the author and perfector of our faith.

e.      That He is the one we should trust in.

f.      Our trust should not be in ourselves or in anything in this world.

g.     As we remember who our God is and trust in Him, we are cleansing our hands and purifying our hearts.

h.     We are asking our Lord to forgive us of what we have done.

i.       We are praying for His guidance for the days before us.

j.       Ultimately, we are asking for His will to be done.

f.      We are remembering that we need to humble ourselves before our God.

g.     Because we need His gift.

h.     We need to be restored.

i.       We need to be redeemed.

15.  1 Corinthians 11:27-29

a.      Paul was addressing a significant issue in the Corinthian church and their lack of love for each other.

b.     What I want us to remember is that when we get together to remember what Jesus did, our hearts are to be focused on the King of kings.

c.      We are too humble ourselves

d.     To purify our hearts.

e.      We are to confess our sins and cleanse our hands.

16.  I don’t want to give the impression that we are to approach God full of guilt and worthlessness.

17.  Instead, we are to approach the Lord’s Supper with reverence.

18.  With deep respect.

19.  Knowing that we needed Jesus to die on the cross for us.

20.  That we need to ask Him to forgive us of anything that is in us today that we are holding on to.

21.  Before I ask the Deacons to come forward, please take a couple of moments to talk to your Jesus.

a.      Thank Him for paying your debt.

b.     Ask Him to remove the sin in your lives.

c.      Let’s take a moment and focus on Jesus.
