Happy New Year 2012!

As we leave 2011 behind and begin 2012 it is a time of reflection, a time to be thankful, and a time to look to the future!

2011 was a year full of challenges but was also full of some amazing things.

Medically I hit my 1 year anniversary from having my Acoustic Neuroma brain tumor removed and Alexis had reconstructive knee surgery. Through both of this things we have seen God working in our lives. My recovery, has been nothing short of miraculous and the timing for Alexis' surgery was perfect. While these have been challenges in our lives, we are forever thankful for all that God has done. While I still have balance issues, get tired easily, and of course am partially deaf it could have been much much worse. I am able to live a normal life, I can do pretty much everything I want to, God has been good! While we wish Alexis did not have to have surgery, she has recovered completely and was ahead of schedule with every step!

In 2011 with all the challenges at work God still opened a door for my passion. He brought us to a wonderful church here in Spencer, Iowa and they called me to be their Pastor. 9th St. Baptist is made up of a wonderful group of people who love the Lord and have embraced us as part of their family. While living so far away from our famlies, God has given us a wonderful church family that has been there for us every step of the way. Besides the family atmosphere it has been great to see God give us a vision and the changes that have taken place. We are truly a church that is hungry for God to work in our lives and are looking for new ways to Share God's Love! I am truly blessed to be used by God to serve 9th St. Baptist.

In 2011 housing has been a challenge. We started the year living in a very dingy little house that has many issues. We also were still maintaining a house in Michigan. Today we still own the house in Michigan but have been able to minimize our expenses and may be on track to finally be free of it. In Iowa God opened the door for a wonderful house for us to rent to own. This house is fits all of our needs, it has plenty of space and the layout is practically perfect. We are very thankful for how God has worked everything out.

As we move into 2012 we are praying for God to continue to bless us and those around us. We are praying that the medical issues we are working through continue to get better and that we see an extended period of health. We are praying that God continues to use us at 9th St. Baptist and that we find ourselves Sharing His Love and reaching the lost. We also pray for God's continued blessing on both of our housing situations as we shed the Michigan house and get closer to owning our house in Iowa.

I encourage you to take some time today and reflect on what God has seen you through in 2011. Be thankful for all that is behind you, both the good and the bad. As you reflect and thank God, shed each issue. Pray that God will help you to let go of each thing you struggled with, pray that He gives you the strength to not let the past define you. 2012 is a new year, and just like becoming a new creation when you accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior, the new year allows you to be washed clean of the past and to move forward in all of His Glory!

I pray that God touches you in 2012 in ways you never thought possible!

God Bless and Happy New Year!

Robert
